Ordinance 1174 Bans Short-term Rentals

Melinda Luthin states "the government must be prohibited from denying people access to justice by shuttering their businesses."

"Rancho Mirage must start processing applications for short-term rental permits filed by property owners suing the city over an ordinance adopted by the council last year that banned vacation rentals in non-gated neighborhoods, a judge has ruled."Melinda Luthin, attorney for VRON, said, however, the judge not only recognized the rights of short-term rental owners but that “the government must be prohibited from denying people access to justice by shuttering their businesses.”

“The judge’s ruling protects the fundamental, very important rights of landowners and business owners who must have the opportunity to defend their rights against government abuse,” Luthin said."
